New construction and remodeling plumbing requires a contractor who shows up on schedule, works cleanly alongside other trades, and stays responsive when plans change mid-project — because they always do. MQ Plumbing handles full plumbing scopes for new residential builds, additions, basement finishes, bathroom and kitchen remodels, and commercial upfits across Mint Hill, Charlotte, and the surrounding metro. We’re on the job from rough-in through finish, and we’re reachable throughout.

What We Handle

Residential new construction

Full plumbing scope from ground up. Water supply lines, drain-waste-vent rough-in, gas lines, fixture installation, and final connections. We coordinate with your GC and other trades and pull all required permits.

Additions and expansions

Adding a bathroom, a laundry room, or extending the footprint of the house. We tie new plumbing into the existing system correctly — the right pipe sizing, proper slope on drain lines, and no shortcuts that create problems after the walls close.

Basement finishes

Bathroom rough-ins, wet bars, utility sinks. If the basement slab hasn't been poured yet, we plan the drain locations before concrete goes down. If it has, we assess what's possible and work with your layout.

Kitchen and bathroom remodels

Relocating drains and supply lines, swapping out fixtures, adding a second sink or a wet room. We work around your demo and finish schedule and leave the rough-in clean for the next trade.

Commercial upfits

Retail spaces, offices, restaurants, drink shops. We've done full commercial plumbing scopes including sourcing specialty fixtures and working with tight turnaround schedules.

What Working With Us on a Project Looks Like

The biggest complaint homeowners and GCs have about plumbing contractors on construction projects is communication — or the lack of it. Calls that go unanswered. Schedules that slip without notice. Contractors who are responsive at the estimate stage and impossible to reach once the job starts.

We work differently. Max stays directly involved from rough-in through punch list. When the scope changes — and on most projects it does — you hear from us directly, not through a dispatcher. If we find something during rough-in that affects the layout or timeline, we flag it before it becomes a problem for the next trade.

We also come back. On larger projects, we schedule follow-up visits after drywall and again at finish to confirm everything is right before the client moves in. That’s not standard in the industry. We make it standard.

Building or Remodeling? Let's Talk.

MQ Plumbing works with homeowners, general contractors, and developers on projects of all sizes across Charlotte, Mint Hill, and the surrounding metro.

Permits and Inspections — Handled

Every new construction and remodeling project involving plumbing requires permits in Mecklenburg County and surrounding jurisdictions. We pull the permits, coordinate with the inspector, and make sure the rough-in passes before the walls close. You don’t chase paperwork — that’s our job.

For GCs managing a full build schedule, this matters: a failed inspection or a permit pulled late can hold up the entire project. We know the local requirements and build the inspection timeline into the schedule from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you work directly with my general contractor?
Yes — and we prefer it. Clear communication between trades is what keeps a construction schedule on track. We coordinate directly with your GC on rough-in timing, inspection scheduling, and any scope changes. If you're the homeowner managing your own project, we work with you the same way.
Do you handle both rough-in and finish plumbing?
Yes. We do the full scope — rough-in, top-out, and finish. Having one plumbing contractor for the full project means no handoff issues, consistent workmanship, and one point of contact throughout.
Can you add plumbing to a space that doesn't currently have it?
In most cases, yes. The feasibility depends on where your existing drain and supply lines run and what access exists. We assess the existing system and tell you what's involved before you commit to the project.
What happens if fixture locations need to change after the under-slab work is done?
Changes to under-slab drain locations after concrete is poured require saw-cutting and re-pouring — it's disruptive and adds cost. This is why we confirm every fixture location with you before we dig. We'd rather spend an hour on that conversation than cut a slab.
Do you handle gas line installation for new construction?
Yes. We run gas lines to water heaters, ranges, dryers, fireplaces, and outdoor connections as part of the new construction scope.
